Mr. Swimmer 游泳先生 is a 46-episode contemporary drama about an up-and-coming Olympic swimmer who falls in love with an ordinary girl. From what I can see, ordinary girl is extraordinarily gorgeous. It stars Mike D’Angelo (Delicious Destiny), Ju Jingyi (Legend fo Yun Xi), Jerry Yan Yuhao (The Story of Souls from Endless Books), Zhang Sha Sha (Special Duty Elite), Hu Bing (New Horizon) and Huang Xin Yao (Smile).

Bai Yongze (Mike D’Angelo) is a talented swimmer who grew up in an ordinary family while Song Cha Cha came from a rich family that has become poor after taking a financial hit. Her boyfriend, Lan Tian (Jerry Yan), had no choice but to break up with her due to his own reasons. He also happens to be a good friend of Bai Yongze but eventually, the two become rivals who will compete for the spot to become part of the Chinese national team. The three characters encounter many twist and turns that will help them mature into responsible young people.

Mike D’Angelo is a Thai actor and singer, and he has been in almost ten Chinese dramas so far, his last one being Delicious Destiny. Most if not all his Chinese dramas are dubbed so I guess this one won’t be any different. Personally, I’m curious about his proficiency as it must be on the rise after so many dramas.
It’s impressive that he managed to make a niche out of being a romantic lead when there are so many Chinese actors to compete with. This looks like a cute drama to watch.
Release Date: September 5, 2018, Mango TV (two episodes every Wednesday to Friday), members watch 6 eps in advance

It’s still weird to see Mike in cdrama for me lol same w his subs, i wonder how big is his fanbase in china? Last year on Chinese restaurant show, his Chinese was that good, I wonder if he got better. This drama sounds ok, i might check it out tho the name alone is cheesy lol cast looks good too, we’ll see

I really like Ju Jingyi after Legend of Yunxi. Her and Mike make an attractive couple. Will give this a try.

He took a break from Thailand after his big scandal in Thailand. But he is lucky Chinese viewers likes him. He will earn more in China anyway.

If by scandal u mean having a kid with his unmarried gf after they broke up then it’s less scandalous than shocking tbh lol esp it was after he got popular from Full House. His gf found out after they broke up and as soon as he knows, he took full responsibility . If anything he gained lots of point from the public for being responsible
hohliu
Actually, he denied it first till DNA was done to proof otherwise. You have your source and I have mine. There was such a huge Press released that made him admit his own baby. The Public was not happy with him thus his CF were dropped in tons and lakorns were withdrawn. It was so clear when his sponsors dropped him. He then started working in China to start afresh. He was young and made a mistake. He even admitted his own mistake. IHe has second chance in China. Good luck for him. At least he is supporting his baby now.

@Liu Hoh: Thanks for explaining! Sounds like he was going to be a deadbeat Dad until he couldn't deny it. Well, good to hear he is supporting his son now. I hope he is present in the child's life.

Who is his son's mother/his ex-girlfriend??

What i know about the scandal are also the same with Liu Hoh, the worst part is, when mike's denied it the first time, his family even badmouthing his ex many times and said they're not sure who the father is, because his ex been playing around a lot (with men) besides mike. HIs family are quite famous for attacking or badmouthing other that they don't like. Btw, he take that responsibility after he got caught that the baby is his, not before, if not he would probably keep denying it. But he is young and public will forget it with given time.
@Allison Lim : His ex is Sara Casinghini, a mixed model in thailand

@Liu Hoh: *my gossip senses are tingling* What was his big scandal? Please tell us!(✿╹◡╹)

I really like Ju Jingyi after Legend of Yun Xi. She totally exceeded my expectations as an actress and she's so cute and pretty. The emperor from Yun Xi is here as well lol! I'm looking forward to her next drama but I think the trailer and the dubbing for this look pretty awful. Maybe I'll wait for some reviews first or just keep re-watching Yun Xi and her breathtaking chemistry with Zhang Zhe Han…
Does anyone know how filming works when the actor doesn't speak the language? Like Mike D'Angelo in this or those Korean actors that were the trend a couple of years ago. Do they just speak in their own language and then are dubbed over? How do they communicate with the other actors and staff?
hohliu
All Chinese dramas are dubbed. Sometimes by original actors but often it is professional dubbers. The scripts are written in language that the other oversea stars read with. And they have translator working closely. It is not easy to work with foreign actors. The common language they do use to communcate with is Eng. As Chinese, Thai, Korean can speak basic Englist at the least. The actors will film speaking in their native language. If you lip read, you can see it. In fact Hongkong stars often speak in Cantonese, like Yanxi Palace. After the dramas are filmed. Then dubbing starts. Those with good voice and can voice act well will dub with their own voice. Hu Ge, Wang Kai, Jin Dong, Deng Lun, YangZi, used their own voice.
Sunny
@Liu Hoh: Thanks for explaining. That sounds like such a challenging environment for the crew and acting with someone who is speaking a completely different language must be tough.
I imagine it must be distracting for the audience when the actor is obviously not speaking Mandarin. I don't speak Mandarin and sometimes it bothers I notice so I feel like that would drive me crazy if I was a native speaker!

Where are SARFT regulation when you needed them. I understand that most drama or film in Chinese production are mostly dubbed, but that doesn't mean they should give main lead to foreign actor, it's like they limit the chances for their own talent from china, when it's quite apparent that many are struggling for a chance to be known even in small production. The regulation are needed to give more chance to homegrown young talent. Also because many from most noticibly in recent years from thailand are starting to get more role in web drama and tv. This will also be followed by the koreans actor/idol if the banned from the government being lifted, as they keep looking for a chance in china. If there is regulation made, at least it will guaranteed first and foremost to cast actor from china for a role before foreign actor are considered or maybe limit it to supporting role.
