It was puzzling that Shan Cai seems to have gotten off relatively unscathed despite Dao Mingfeng’s return. As it turns out, Dao Mingfeng was just getting started as she targets the important people in Shan Cai’s life, which leads to the tearful rain scene where our plucky heroine calls it quits and breaks Dao Mingsi’s heart.
A noble sacrifice. With Dao Mingfeng ruining the lives of Shan Cai’s friends, she eventually relents and promises to leave the Dao Ming mansion for good. As she walks away under the heavy rain, she encounters Dao Mingsi and breaks up with him. She walks away, not looking back even once. Dao Mingsi stands there, not knowing how to react to Shan Cai’s words that deeply pierced his heart.
A ruined Dao Mingsi. To move on with their lives, Shan Cai heads to the province without telling anyone. Dao Mingsi on the other hand, reverts back to his old self, so much that he becomes worse than what he was before meeting Shan Cai. He will not talk to the F4 and even shoves a cake to a girl’s face when she confesses her feelings for him. It’s like he’s on a path to self-destruction without Shan Cai in his life.
It’s a clutch fight between Terris and Meizuo. At least, we have another budding relationship to root for though it seems that no one has the upper hand, for now. When the water pipes in Caina’s house leak because of heavy rain, Terris comes to the rescue. He fixes everything and even goes to the extent of fixing the pipes outside in the pouring rain. He enters Caina’s bedroom to check for more repairs when he sees the coconut where he carved a smiley the first time they met. One point for Terris.
Meizuo looks like he is starting to win Caina’s heart too. He takes her out on a romantic date and in the end, presents her with a light show. A beating heart to be exact. He kisses her along the streets of Shanghai and the two look perfect together. One point for Meizuo. A few days later, he brings along the F4, including Dao Mingsi, to a park where they have picnic and games. Meizuo may win this round with all the things he has prepared for Caina, but in the end, we’re can’t really be sure.
