With the huge setback affecting Win the World, Talent Television & Film hedges its bets as it pushes another production into the limelight. Goodbye My Princess 东宫 is a drama adapted from the novel Eastern Palace by Fei Wo Si Cun 匪我思存. She also wrote the novel that Siege in Fog is based on which is good in that it’s a well-crafted story, but bad in that the author loves sad endings.

The show has dropped a trailer that just seems so full of heartaches and explores forgetting love as its theme. For some reason, there’s a scene where the heroine jumps off a cliff that reminds me of Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Inasmuch as I don’t like amnesia as a trope, all the promos so far point to a stunning drama. It takes a novel reader to judge whether the casting fits the bill, but the leads both look really good to me, even as I barely know anything about them.

Peng Xiaoran plays the Crown Princess who is married off to the imperial family. Chen Xingxu who may be more familiar to audiences as the villain in Legend of the Condor Heroes elevates to leading man status to play the black-bellied Prince.
