Despite not having any drama last year, Tang Yan’s popularity has not waned, and she’s still a ‘1 billion queen’ since a lot of her shows reach at least 1 billion viewers. It’s no wonder she ranked #14 on Forbes China Celebrity 100 last 2017 which rates a celebrity’s influence. Despite her obvious commercial success, she has been repeatedly criticized for playing the same type of character over and over again.
Yet it’s no surprise that the popular actress is being featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and L’Officiel magazine for May 2018. What’s surprising however, is her bold new look which deviates from her usual classic but cute look.

The magazine photos show us a different side of Tang Yan that we don’t see often, and it shows us that she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of conventional fashion. The last time I saw her wear something unrecognizable was the fat suit she wore for Diamond Lover and even then, she looked cute.

Just wondering why people stupidly complain about actors replaying the same roles over and over again? I dislike those who play things they don’t match and failed. Who has a face to match the role of playing everything?

Great photos even if I'm not a fan of the awkward fringe. I'm looking forward to her new dramas especially with Shawn Dou.

Haha! Funny how you mention the awkward fringe. It is actually the type of fringe we would use for describing a "sha nu" (meaning, stupid girl) – I believe it is sort of a cultural taste type of thing.
But it looks good on Tang Yan though, reminds me of Yuki Hsu. Girls with long face matches the hairstyle.
