The new Meteor Garden hasn’t even aired, but it looks like a wave of mania has already begun with the original 2001 Taiwanese drama on air once more. Barbie Hsu recently shared her thoughts on Shan Cai, and Rainie Yang who played Shan Cai’s bestie Xiao You decided to join in on the reminiscing when she re-shared Barbie’s post on social media.
The actress who has had a dazzling career since then writes, “Meteor Garden is a drama from another generation. This generation’s viewers just found out that I am Xiao You. This is actually my very first drama.”

Rainie goes on to reveal her audition process for Meteor Garden. After trying out for three roles, she was initially chosen to play the role of Li Zhen. On her first day of work, she waited from daytime to nighttime until her scene and quickly took her place to sit next to Barbie when her name was called. However, nothing was happening as she could see crew members huddled together and speaking in hushed tones. Thinking that something bad was definitely going on, she was surprised when they approached her and her manager to ask if she’d be able to play a different role because the Director thinks that the role of Xiao You would fit Rainie better. And the rest was history.

Rainie goes on to express how thankful she is that Meteor Garden paved the road for her start in the entertainment industry. Though she adds a caveat, to apologize in advance for her very green acting skills. Filming was back in 2000 when Rainie was only 16! Apparently, the practice back then was different too, so except for her uniform at the cake shop, her hair and clothes were her own..

Vanness Wu who played Mei Zuo in F4 also had something to say. Apparently, it’s his silky smooth hair that’s trending and he’s seeing questions asking when the hair will return. He says that he doesn’t want to wake up early to do the hair ….

What's up with all of the Meteor garden posts, feeling so old and nostalgic? Shota Matsuda posted a picture of the F4 getting together on his IG account.

I could be wrong but I thought they're making a Hana Yori Dango remake in Japan too?

Not a remake but a sequel. They just aired it recently and it's being subbed.

These stories from the original Meteor Garden cast are so fun. LMAO @ Vaness Wu's response. Early 2000's hair was really something.
