The 37th Hong Kong Film Awards was held last Sunday, April 15, 2018 and if you don’t know it by now, it’s considered to be Hong Kong’s equivalent of the Oscars. Among the most anticipated awards of the night is the one for best actor.
Louis Koo won Best Actor for the movie Paradox 贪狼, and he bested 4 other amazing actors such as Ronald Cheng for Concerto of the Bully, Andy Lau for Shockwave, Tian Zhuang Zhuang for Love Education, Ling Man Lung for Tomorrow is Another Day.
After a long career, Louis Koo has won Best Actor for the first time this year and has been collecting the award across the many award shows. It’s an expected but entirely deserved win and congratulations are in order. I have seen him start sometime almost 20 years ago and he was a so-so actor so it’s a nice surprise to see him finally reaching his potential.
In Paradox, Louis Koo plays a cop whose daughter suddenly disappears while on a trip to Pattaya and he becomes a desperate father in search for his beloved daughter. It sounds like Liam Neeson in Taken.
