Hu Ge has started shooting for his new movie and although a part of me wishes that it were a drama, it seems like he’s done well in choosing his next project. He headlines Wild Goose Lake 南方车站的聚会, a crime thriller about a convict on the run after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit.
He works with screenwriter and director Diao Yinan who won Best Film at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival for the 2014 movie Black Coal, Thin Ice. Also joining Hu Ge are Gui Lun-Mei, Liao Fan and Wan Qian. Both Gui Lun-Mei and Liao Fan actually starred in Black Coal, Thin Ice for which Liao Fan won Best Actor. Gui Lun-Mei is also no stranger to awards shows having multiple nominations and a Best Actress award under her belt.
I dropped Game of Hunting early on, but I remember hearing about Wan Qian being a scene stealer in that, so it’s nice to see her reunion with Hu Ge in this way.
