Ratings have been all over the place lately with no clear winner in sight. Although it never managed to break past CSM52 ratings of 1.0%, The Great Expectations was among the top dramas for most of its run. It ended last night and has racked up 3.5 billion views while topping web rankings. Love’s Lies also snags the top spot last week despite failing to break 1.0%.
It goes to show that the poor showings may be here to stay as primetime numbers barely differ from the later 10pm shows. For one, Excellent Investor has been averaging with CSM52 ratings of 0.7%.
We are seeing a few new web dramas in the top 10. Cinderella Chef jumps to 4th place while Suddenly, This Summer and Oh My Emperor settle for seventh and tenth. The weekly celebs list still has the same three people on top with Dilireba, Zhao Liying and William Chan. Kudos to them as they don’t even have dramas airing at the moment, especially Zhao Liying whose last drama was last year.

This year has been really bad in ratings. But honestly I have yet to finish any drama that started airing this year so I am not surprised to see a lack of interest from the audience. I hope dramas get better once Summer rolls around, I know networks like to save some good dramas for the Summer.

I agree it's been a pretty bad year for C-dramas compared to last year. Not just in terms of numbers but the overall quality is lacking. I don't think I've finished any C-dramas that aired this year.
I like Luo Jin so I'm happy for him Love Lies is doing quite well. Does anyone know if he and Tang Yan are still dating? don't usually care about famous couples but these two are an exception. They are so cute together!

great is so subjective now though. I'm just waiting for the new dramas for May and hoping for the best:) I think they are still together. If anything, no breakup news means good news.

I agree taste is definitely subjective because I'm rarely impressed by the hyped up dramas – most recent case being 'A Love So Beautiful'. Also my options are even more limited as I need subs so very likely I could be missing out on the good ones which are never subbed.
I do hope no news means Luo Jin and Tang Yan couple are good and just keeping things lowkey!
