Tree In The River 动物系恋人啊 is a 20-episode romance drama revolving around two childhood friends who meet again as adults. Guy habors a longtime crush on girl back when he was still a chubby kid. Chubby kid matures into the handsome Mike He (Cambrian Period) and he becomes roommates marries his dream girl played by Gillian Chung (Zhao Ge). The show seems to be really selling the animal concept to match its Chinese title which translates to Animal-Type Lovers, though I’m not sure of its actual relevance to the story.

Gillian Chung plays Chu Zhi He, a woman anticipating the arrival of a romance. Her animal is a squirrel, which makes her tiny and cute?

Mike He plays Da Shu, an honest man. His animal is a giraffe. Uhh, what do giraffes do?

Sonia Sui plays Fen Ni, a person who always has her guard up like a panther.

Ray Chang plays Qin Hao. Like a wolf on a hunt, he sets his eyes on his next target which happens to be Chu Zhi He.

I’m not too keen on the storyline, but the drama comes from Director Winnie Chu who helmed the 2011 Taiwanese hit drama In Time With You starring Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen. The cast are familiar faces as well. I still remember when Mike He used to be one of the most sought after idol drama leads, and then there’s Gillian Chung of the singing duo Twins (are they active again?). Everyone’s in their thirties now, but still looking great.

"His animal is a giraffe. Uhh, what do giraffes do?" LMOL!
I happy to see it's a reasonable number of episodes. So tired of these romances that at are needlessly 50 episodes long. The posters are cute too.
