Starting from the conceptual posters that were released last year to the clues leading up to today, the guessing game finally comes to an end as both Hu Yi Tian and Chen Zhe Yuan were revealed to play the twin brothers in Handsome Siblings 绝代双骄, which is a drama adaptation based on the popular novel by Gu Long 古龙.
The last time the wuxia had a remake was back in 2004 with The Proud Twins starring Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse, which feels like a long enough gap to make a new one. Given the popularity of Hu Yi Tian after A Love So Beautiful, it seems like a natural progression for him to jump into costume dramas and an iconic one at that. Likewise for wuxia as a whole, it can’t hurt to have rising stars as a draw to hook viewers to the genre. Chen Zhe Yuan who plays the main protagonist is also a rookie actor though he certainly seems to have potential as he can already be seen headlining Legend of Zu 2.
Filming started today (Feb 7 Asia Time) in Hengdian World Studios. It is produced by Huace Film & TV, Perfect World Pictures and Jianxin Picture which are the same companies behind the success of Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017.
