Nirvana in Fire 2 has brought in CSM52 ratings of 0.271% and 0.263% during its simultaneous broadcast on Dragon TV and Beijing TV respectively, which is quite low for the highly-anticipated sequel to a mega hit drama. After catching the first episode, I must admit that I’m still too ingrained with the original story to appreciate a show that looks and feels like Nirvana in Fire without any of the familiar cast. I keep expecting either Huang Xiao Ming and Liu Hao Ran to become more like Mei Changsu in their thoughts and actions though it hardly seems fair since the sequel is ultimately about different people.
Needless to say, I haven’t found the same addictive quality that got me hopelessly hooked to the original but I do think it’s too early to cast a verdict just yet. What did you think of the drama?

I think the first season also had bad TV ratings. I saw the first few episodes and it looks really good.

Those ratings are low. Disappointing for those involved but maybe the ratings will gradually pick up. I know the first Nirvana in Fire" is very well-regarded now but did it have high ratings at the time of airing?

As far as I recall it premiered to lackluster rating but word of mouth and just awesome acting and storytelling fast gained it veiwers. I think the articles said the tide began to turn in its favor around episode 12 and it’s history from there (such an amazing drama)

I'm following NIF 2, and I'm hooked. Probably because the awesome martial arts choreography, which is pretty natural for a series. I have no problem with LHR. He and HXM have a warm and touching brotherly love, and it's cute to see HXM keeps on defending his little bro in front of Dad. Tong Liya is pretty cool, and the doctor girl is cold but I like her as well. I dont really like political drama, but NIF 2 has a combination of politics and action, so it's fine for me. Plus it's nice to see smart characters, the protagonists as well as the antagonists.
