With the number of Jin Dong dramas that aired this year, I won’t be surprised if this really does air next year as his dramas have a knack for funnelling through the drama backlog to air on the small screen.
Mr. Right 恋爱先生 is a 45-episode Chinese drama that’s sort of like the movie Hitch except the main character is not a dating consultant but a dentist who helps other men with their dating woes as a sideline. As the typical setup goes, he meets a woman whom he starts out hating but then falls for afterwards.
There are a few more couples to complete the cast as Mr. Dentist also helps out two other guys along the way. One is his business partner who is genuinely interested in a woman who happens to be a girl that Mr. Dentist used to crush on. The other is a a friend of his who’s trying to date a model that’s way out of his league.
From the ILOVEU posters, the overarching theme is clearly all about love. I can see this being scheduled for a Valentine’s Day premiere (nope, it airs January!). I hope it’s the kind of romance with clever lines and a sense of humor as those are fun to watch. The cast includes Jin Dong, Maggie Jiang Shuying, Li Nai Wen, Li Zong Han, Xin Zhi Lei, Tian Yu and Cecilia Song Yanfei.
