Just days after the new F4 was unveiled with no mention of their respective roles nor their leading lady, a press conference was held today in Shanghai to formally introduce the official cast of the Meteor Garden 流星花園 remake.
Newbie actress Shen Yue who also just had her first starring role in A Love So Beautiful takes the lead as the titular heroine Shan Cai. From right to left, Dylan Wang plays everyone’s favorite heartthrob Dao Ming Si. Connor Leong plays Mei Zuo, Darren Chen plays second lead Hua Ze Lei and Caesar Wu plays Xi Men.
A photo of the five main leads together was posted on the show’s official weibo page. What do you think of them in comparison to the old cast from the 2001 Taiwanese drama? I will always have a soft spot for Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu, but I can see new ships forming as the new guys and gal look absolutely endearing.

I really like the casting! It was who I was hoping for since Dylan Wang and Darren Chen seemed to have the most personality out of the group based on just pictures.

I just realized who Darren Chen played in Proud of Love. Wow. He was not good in that as the second lead. Let's hope he is better in this.

Thank you for the footage of the press conference and the subs. I really like the look of the cast. The guys are all sooo tall – even in high heels Shen Cai looks tiny beside them. Shen You looks like an adorable Shan Cai/Makino. I hope she is as feisty and strong as the character is supposed to be. Darren Chen looks perfect for Mei Zuo/Rui. Wonder if Dylan Wang will have curly hair?
