Based on the onslaught of promos leading up to its Oct 25 premiere on Youku, it’s quite clear that Oh My General 将军在上 is not gonna be anything like your average drama. I mean one of the posters has its leads Sandra Ma and Peter Sheng laying in a bed of pink petals with only their heads popping out.
The two will play the unwilling couple forced into a marriage that neither wants. Producer Jin Yi Fei expressed her confidence with the casting by saying that Sandra Ma has an androgynous beauty while Peter Sheng is not only handsome but also has his own personality, which make their appearance and appeal a really good fit for the roles.
Once Ye Zhao learns that the man she is destined to marry is just another self-entitled noble with seemingly no redeemable qualities, she manages to ask, “Is he pretty?” to which the answer is a resounding yes! Just like his future wife, Zhao Yu Jin is equally resistant to the idea of having to marry a fearsome general and he exhausts all his resources to plot his escape.
Given how these things usually go, Zhao Yu Jin is obviously not going to succeed in his escape but will fall helplessly in love with Ye Zhao and vice versa. It should make for many crazy hijinks and emotional moments once the two get together, but the visuals also reveal breathtaking action sequences to look forward to. After all, the story is about a heroic general who has won countless battles under her command.
