With the mid-autumn festival and National Day within days of each other, it’s been a big week in China, and a number of shows also saw their series finales around the same time. Viewership seems higher as people must have tuned in to catch the many finales during their time off. After failing for weeks, The King’s Woman finally breaks out of its slump to reach 0.6%, 0.8% and finally, 1.0% on its last three days.
Nothing Gold Can Stay has stayed in the spotlight ever since its premiere and this time is no different as the show ends its 70-episode run on a high note. Overall, it had an impressive showing breaking ratings of 2.0% in two networks and 3.0% in one. Online views on Tencent have surpassed 10.6 billion views. Ping Fan Sui Yue and Where Winter is Warm, Where Winter is Cool also ended their run, though neither managed to break past 1.0%.
Nonetheless, it could be worse in the weeks to come as quite a few of the new primetime shows are simply reruns, which makes the 10pm slot a lot more appealing in comparison. Starry Night Starry Sea 2 hit a high of 0.8% and even Tong Tian Detective Dee no longer looks so bad as it moves up to rank in eighth. Xuan Yuan Sword is taking over the Wednesday-Thursday slot to air four episodes a week rather than two, which should see a positive change ratings-wise.
