Can I say that I love this couple pairing already? I really like Joe Cheng and Jiang Xin individually as actors so the thought of the two collaborating on a drama together as the main leads is just a cherry on top. They’re in Shanghai this week to begin filming for the upcoming remake of Affair of Half a Lifetime 半生缘.
It is based on a classic in the romance genre written by Eileen Chang that was last made into a drama in 2003 starring Ruby Lin, Patrick Tam and Jiang Qin Qin. Before that, there was the 1997 movie Eighteen Springs headlined by Jacklyn Wu, Leon Lai and Anita Mui and also the the 1989 TVB drama starring Mary Hon Ma Li and Gallen Lo.
This one’s going to have to do things grander and better to best its predecessors, and it’s got a pretty high caliber cast with the addition of Hong Kong veteran actress Carina Lau. I’m looking forward to some fireworks in the acting department, though I’m a little weary of the heavy drama that is sure to ensue. The story follows a difficult romance during the Republican era.

Wow! I read the English version of it almost a year ago and I cried buckets. Meant to check out the movie version but haven't yet. Will definitely give this a go if translated.
Pretty cast!
