The latest in the rumor mill pairs together Hu Ge and Zhao Li Ying as the leads for Su Dong Po, an upcoming historical drama that is said to start filming very soon. The story of Su Dong Po who is an important figure during the Song Dynasty has been made into a drama before with the most recent being the 2012 Chinese TV series starring Lu Yi and Ruby Lin.
I don’t think it even matters what project these two sign up for as long as it happens. Even during the 11th Golden Eagle Awards, He Jiong was already teasing them by saying that he was very happy to finally see them collaborating (hezuo 合作 in Chinese) with each other, though what he really meant was that they were sitting together (also pronounced hezuo 合坐 in Chinese).
Sadly, I feel like the chances of the news being true are quite low, but I’m posting it anyway in the hope that it is. Hu Ge has been taking an indefinite break from showbiz, and Zhao Li Ying already has two dramas Legend of Minglan and Our Glamorous Time coming up. But picture this, the stars of Nirvana in Fire and Journey of Flower in one drama, it’s bound to amazing.

I find Zhao Li Ying to be quite bland in her acting and rather uncharismatic.
She may be cute and popular but matching her with HG will undoubtedly highlight the glaring gap in their skills and it will be painful to watch for me personally.

Oh well, it is always so subjective. I love Zhao Li Ying'acting acting whereas I don't find Hu Ge so charismatic. The only thing there acting together could highlight, is their age difference, I don't know exactly how old is Hu Ge, but he seems much older than her

Zhao Liying is the more decent one out of all the popular actresses nowadays. I don't like her either (think she's overhyped by intl fans) but if Hu Ge can act with people like Guli Nazha, I think he won't have much of a problem with Liying.
Their age difference is only 5 years. Hu Ge has fantastic chemistry with other actresses of ZLY's age, like Liu Yifei, Liu Shishi and Yang Mi.

Agree with it being subjective; personally I find Zhao Liying's acting not as bad as you make it out to be, especially with other popular actresses who are much more dull and bland. It can be said that she is notably bad at picking good scripts, however. Here's to hoping future projects will let her shine more.

Zhao li ying acting is just normal. It's funny that her projects are always so bad that people complained that she could've played a better Bai Qian, and she should have played Zhen Huan instead as well, etc.

To be honest, she didn't act much in Princess Agents. Most of the time she just had a blank face one with her big eyes opened wide all the time

I don't find her a good actress from watching half of PA either. I thought she was bland too. I did find Hu ge excellent as meng jiu in sound of the desert. This drama doesn't sound interesting but with the right actors, it might be.
As for Bai Qian and Zhen Huan, I doubt she could do better.

I dont think the age gap is any issue, but as I said- the glaring gap is in her skills.
As for Wallace, again,I find him to be lovely eye candy but unfortunately he isn't at the level of his peers. He was great in Battle of Changsha but Journey of Flower etc.was a painful watch for me.
I think HG in Disguiser+Nirvana in Fire+Sound of the Desert was really outstanding. ZLY was incredibly cute in Boss and Me, but thats it.

What a joke. Better Zhen Huan? ZLY is good but to compare her against Sun Li is just reaching.
Also, Yang Mi is by no means a phenomenal actress but I doubt ZLY can do better as Bai Qian. First of all, she already lacks the looks/aura for the role.

Yeah, all she really got are just crazy fans to back up the average skills. If I'm the director, I would use her too, regardless of her skills or if she matches the play. Although I only have 1 crappy script, as long as she's in then it will be top success and rate first place, so why not? Her fans are brainless crazy, they will support her in anything, like, literally anything.
Besides hoping she will wisely choose a role that suites her well, I hope she learns to socialize with people in her profession. Is everyone seriously ignoring her or is it that she choose to be ignored? It's been many years and if she keeps doing that, it's not good because it's seems as if everyone is just bad except her. Ariel Lin lived in poverty before, nobody looked down on her. Not every well known actress had the best family background or got some connections to get in the industry, everyone worked hard the same as well. Every news article about her is always about her poor background all the time, it gets very irritating I just hope they stop doing that.

She's their junior, do you expect her seniors like Fan Bing Bing and Yang Mi to approach her first?

Its about time !!! Afterall ZLY has made a round up pairing with almost all the flower boys gang…nick wu, wallace huo, eddie peng…so whether its a historical or modern day drama, I'm all for it…they even look great just sitting together at an award show, imagine acting as lovers in a drama…
