There are all kinds of c-dramas from fantasy to modern day, but wuxia will forever be my first love. Luckily, this is a genre that gets a remake every so often to give modern audiences a chance to fall in love with the classics all over again.
Handsome Siblings 绝代双骄 is based on a Gu Long novel of the same name that follows the storyline of twins separated at birth. The show has dropped its first conceptual poster that has the words Jue Dai Shuang Jiao written beautifully by famous Chinese calligrapher Ye Gen You 叶根友. The fish and flower signify the two siblings named Xiao Yu Er (little fish) and Hua Wu Que (flawless flower).

Guo Jing Yu’s recent adaptation of Legend of Condor Heroes was praised for doing justice to the novel despite having no big names, which gives a boost of confidence that he can do the same for the second time with Handsome Siblings. He joins hands with producer Wu Dun again and the drama is still a collaboration between Wan Mei Shi Jie and Huace Film & TV.
Given the number of remakes over the years, it’s easy to gravitate towards one whether it’s the first that you saw or the one that you fell in love with. For me, it was the 1999 adaptation led by Jimmy Lin and Alec Su. I forgot Kevin Cheng was in it too as this was before he hit mainstream popularity with later works. Who do you want to see in the new cast?
