Nam Gong Min Returns in "Falsify"

The most popular drama currently airing when it comes to garnering ratings, Falsify is a soft crime thriller that has everyone tuning in to watch.

Okay, so I’m a little late with this post since the series has been out for awhile, but I wanted to wait and see if all the buzz was worth mentioning, and the drama truly does live up to all the hype.

With a pace that’s quick and constant, there’s never a dull moment or lacking material since it follows the new structure of 30 min episodes, that are back to back for two full days (2 episodes each day). The writing is more concise with finely tuned directing in order to deliver a final product that really does provide 30 whole minutes of suspense and intrigue with a few laughs and memorable moments along the way.

Falsify centres around Han Moo Young (Nam Goong Min) who seeks revenge after the death of his brother who attempted to uncover a scandal involving corruption on a large scale. Moo Young uses any means possible, both his wits and fists in order to seek the truth in the cases he pursues – falsified and loaded with misinformation that the Police and Prosecution miss or have no evidence of.

He joins forces with Kwon So Ra (Uhm Ji Won) an intelligent Prosecutor and the youngest female Prosecutor in her field, along with Lee Seok Min (Yoo Jun Sang) another Reporter who doesn’t go anywhere near the same lengths as Moo Young to uncover the truth but is proficient enough to print a sensational story. Together, they’ll unearth legal and political deception, showcasing the power of the media.

I love how well rounded the cast is, and how the writer has chosen to place an Investigative Reporter as the main character instead of a Prosecutor or Cop tired of the injustice they see around them. Frankly after Forest of Secrets, nothing else really compares anymore. But I really like this cast and the writing even if it isn’t as complex.

Nam Goong Min’s character here seems like Chief Kim 2.0 but a little more reserved with a dark past but I’m glad the man is back, creating another memorable character while being apart of a successful drama series once again – he deserves the recognition and so much more.
