How awesome is it that all these highly-anticipated sequels are going to premiere on Monday, August 14? The timing really can’t be better because we would have had some time to recover from the trauma that came with the ending of Princess Agents. I can’t promise blue skies and sunshine this time, but I definitely think there’s promise or there wouldn’t be a sequel in the first place.
Monster Killer premiered as a web series on July 6, 2015 with no big names, which is why I’m grateful that it warranted Monster Killer 2 to tell the next pages of another intriguing chapter in the life of Wuxin. Elvis Han and Sebrina Chen Yao reprise their roles as enemies although Chen Yao will also be double hatting as a man who ends up becoming friends with the good guys. Really though, I’m looking forward to more monsters, more mystery and more abs (it is Elvis Han after all).
Les Interpretes premiered on May 24, 2016. It’s the only one out of the three that I haven’t seen before, not that it matters because Negotiator starts fresh with a new concept, new storyline and new characters. A premise revolving around business savvy professionals sounds a little cut and dry, but I really don’t need much convincing to watch a show headlined by Yang Mi and it’ll be interesting to see her chemistry with Huang Zitao.
Update: Ugh… I’m sorry to say this but I’m hearing whispers of Negotiator being postponed to be replaced by Love Actually starring Joe Chen and Tong Da Wei.
Legend of Qin first premiered on November 29, 2015 and even though it didn’t spell a big hit then, it had all the trappings of a fantasy wuxia that was easy to like (ha, I loved it). The King’s Woman is actually a prequel instead of a sequel and it seems to be going for a different look altogether – very palace-y and historical. Dilraba Dilmurat and Vin Zhang headline as the enemies turned lovers in a complicated story from the perspective of a woman. More stills below.
