The Rise of the Phoenixes 凰权弈天下 is an upcoming c-drama that is majorly anticipated not just for its plot which is based on a novel by Tian Xia Gui Yuan, but also for its cast that brings together A-listers Chen Kun (Tuo Shen Zhe) and Ni Ni (Wu Kong).
Having movie stars as the leads already carry a certain weight but it looks as though the supporting cast are of a different calibre too with veteran actors Zhao Li Xin and Ni Da Hong as well as Yuan Hong (Princess Jieyou), Wang Ou (Legend of Jade Sword), Bai Jing Ting (Rush to the Dead Summer), Zhang Xiao Chen (Chronicle of Life) and Liu Min Tao (Nirvana in Fire).
I’m definitely seeing a lot of recognizable names such as Yuan Hong and Wang Ou who are easily headlining dramas on their own. Rush to the Dead Summer star Bai Jing Ting is perhaps the youngest one, and it’s great that there’s just something for everybody.
The story follows the rise of a woman into a position of power and judging from the scale of the production and the acting credentials of everyone involved, I’m expecting something that is nothing short of impressive.

I sincerely love this show. Even watching with sub-titles it is so engaging. The actors, who I personally have never seen before, are top-shelf amazing. They have me laughing constantly at their expressions and gestures. Other scenes are so sad and tragic I have to step away for a bit because of the drama is too intense for this grandmother. Congratulations to the entire cast.
