Fist & Faith 青禾男高 is a Chinese movie that is not only packed with action and comedy, but also delves deeper into serious issues in a school setting during the Japanese occupation of China. It tells a passionate story about youth and brotherhood starring Jing Tian (Glory of Tang Dynasty), Oho Ou (Wu Kong), Zhou You, Xia En, Ding Guan Sen (Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber), Zhang Ning Jiang and Yin Fang.
I initially thought that it would be a romantic comedy since the teaser begins with student Jing Hao (Oho Ou) literally ‘flying out’ the school building to follow a beautiful teacher (Jing Tian). However, Jing Hao is no ordinary student and Qing He High is no ordinary school. It is a place ruled by Japanese students and as the trailer narrates “Chinese students are forbidden to walk the middle of corridors…until Jing Hao came”.

There are hints of comedy with JIng Hao goofing around and claiming that his life goal is to play mahjong, but it escalates into fights against Japanese students led by Kento Hayashi’s character. Jing Hao also becomes the leader of a band of brothers willing to fight, and the student wars become not simply cases of bullying, but about fighting for one’s place in society and preserving one’s culture.
The movie is directed by Jiang Zhuoyuan and produced by Doze Niu.
