The Fox’s Summer 狐狸的夏天 is a 46-episode Chinese web series adapted from the youth romance novel When the President Falls in Love and it tells a story between a pathological liar and her boss who not only never lies, hates lies but is also a human lie detector.
Gu Cheng Ze is the president of a huge company. He is an adopted son and his responsibility is to guide Gu Jin, the rightful heir, towards becoming a respectable businessman. He finds out that fashion designer Li Yan Shu is Gu Jin’s ex so he hires her onboard, ultimately falling for her instead.
I get the fox reference now, but I still wish that the heroine was literally a fox lady because that would make the story ten times cooler. Not that there’s anything wrong with the existing setup, I’m actually in the mood for some workplace rom-com and the whole opposites attract may be an overused trope but it sells.
The series stars Jiang Chao, Tan Song Yun, Wang Yan Zhi and Zhang Xin. Season 1 started airing April 5, 2017 while Season 2 will begin May 4, 2017 on Tencent QQ.
