Our Time Will Come 明月几时有 is a Chinese movie that brings to life a piece of history. Set in 1940’s Hong Kong, it revolves around Fang Gu, an ordinary school teacher who turns into an extraordinary fighter, determined to defend her countrymen from Japanese occupation.
Fang Gu is played by Zhou Xun, a beauty who has won numerous awards in the entertainment industry. Also leading the cast are Eddie Peng and Wallace Huo whose presence alone is guaranteed to inspire even more moviegoers.

Since the movie is based on real life events, it only follows that it will pull emotional strings. The fight for independence is a touching one and Director Ann Hui uses it as a medium to give viewers a better understanding of the people of that time, their culture and ideals. I think that historical movies like this are not only used to narrate the past, but they also serve to give a deeper appreciation of the present. The film also happens to have a very timely release, twenty years since Hong Kong’s return to China.
Release Date: July 1, 2017
