I really don’t know what to think about this drama. On the one hand it has me scratching my head, trying to make sense of the whole reincarnation aspect but on the other hand I’m willing to chuck everything out the door and watch this with an open mind since it’s definitely different. I’m just grateful to see Yoo Ah In back on the small screen playing an eccentric character who seems to not only have unique fashion taste but personality as well. And as far as drama titles go, this one seems like it’ll pique anyone’s interest.

Chicago Typewriter is a reincarnation fantasy of writers in the 1930s during the Japanese occupation of Korea, reincarnated into the present day as a best-selling writer, Han Se Joo (Yoo Ah In) with writer’s block, an anti-fan, Jeon Seol (Im Soo Jung) who was once a die-hard fan, and a ghostwriter, Yoo Jin Oh (Go kyung Po).
It’ll showcase the famous writer as someone who is internally struggling, and depressed while the anti-fan is a senior when it comes to renowned literary pieces. Lastly, the ghostwriter is someone with “genius” writing skills, and classic tastes in music and antiques.
The ghostwriter is willing to solve Han Se Joo’s dilemma with writer’s block since his slump means he’s losing devoted readers to other authors, but the condition the mysterious ghostwriter has might be one Se Joo can’t pay off.
From reading vague descriptions and plot-lines (sorry guys, there really isn’t much info out there) I can already tell that this is one drama book lovers and writers will want to watch – there’s going to be depictions of difficulties of the literary world. Considering how critical contemporary literature is and how demanding readers are, it’s no surprise that the best-selling author is plagued by his own art.

I love how this drama will blur lines between genres because I’ve never imagined a drama about authors to be a fantasy-slash-historical-slash-modern. The trailers and teasers have all been interesting so if your looking for something unique and outside the box, my money is on Chicago Typewriter.

Cute gif.
I'm looking forward to this. It looks interesting and original. Yoo Ah In is such a good actor and even manages to make that hair work. Thanks for trying to explain the plot because I am honestly so confused by every synopsis I've read.

You can now check the character profiled on the drama site now since the show will premiere this week. And speaking of the show, I think Go Kyung-po's character is really a ghost and not a reincarnation since he acts like he is in the 1930s and does not seem to interact with others except Yoo Ah-in's character according to his character profile.

He works out two styles in the drama (buzz cut and floppy hair) ?

i totally agree with you! The ghostwriter is the real deal, and hasn't been reincarnated into the present. I'm guessing whatever happened in the 1930's may be the underlying reason for why he wants to help Yoo Ah In's character or have a wager in the first place. I hoesntly can't wait!
