*Most of the shows above air at 19:30 while those highlighted in blue air at 22:00. **Rankings are the overall rankings of the television series airing on the same night, regardless of timeslot.
Heirs, Surgeons and Star April are the new primetime shows entering the scene and it looks like they have yet to find their groove. Jin Dong’s medical drama Surgeons was leading the pack initially but Nicky Wu’s Star April seems poised to over for good, inching past 0.7 as of its third episode.
Amidst all of this, Huang Da Ni stays strong in second. I honestly don’t know much about it other than the fact that it’s a rerun, so I’m guessing domestic audiences must love it.

Legend of the Condor Heroes saw its finale last week and pulled in 0.551. It’s not a huge splash but a commendable one for such a young novice cast. Glory of Tang Dynasty, which is the only other costume drama left is not faring so well in comparison.
Granted that airing late doesn’t mean you can’t do well but the change from season one’s daily primetime to season two’s 10pm slot that airs three times a week definitely had an impact. At least it’s painting a better picture online, coming in just behind In the Name of People and Fighter of the Destiny which are the two of the hottest dramas now.
And you guys, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms is still in the top ten, I’m so proud.

*The top ten rankings are taken from Vlinkage. **View count is based on the nine streaming sites (Youku, Tudou, iQiyi, QQ Tencent, LeTV, PPTV, Xunlei, Sohu, Mango) *** Star popularity is based on view count, weibo, douban, tieba, search results, etc

Last but not the least, you may have noticed that I added some words in fine print to reflect some of the changes made. Instead of collating rankings for each timeslot, I decided to share the rankings across the board instead, since it’s easier to manage and probably easier to read. At the end of the day, this post is somewhat of a work in progress so if you have any suggestions at all, I’d love to hear it.

Pretty Li Huizhen also aired in the same timeslot as FotD but did much better. I won't say FotD is doing well. It's just average, plus it's not critically acclaimed on top of that.
Surgeons and Star April may not seem to be doing well, but as far as I know they are airing at the same time as In the Name of People, so it really is unfair to judge them based on ratings. ItNoP has the advantage of premiering earlier and with high ratings which led to even more hype. I mean, if you hear a drama is breaking 5 you'll definitely check it out, won't you?

I thought Pretty Li Huizhen started getting good numbers midway whereas FOTD started out at 1.0+ so in that sense I still find that it's doing better. But I guess what's the right measure to say that a show is doing well can be subjective too.
Agreed that the new shows are definitely at a disadvantage so we won't really know how they fare until In the Name is out of the way. I am one of those who definitely checked it out because of the hype, couldn't get into it though…

FoTD is benefiting from being the show right after In the Name. If you check realtime ratings, it starts out VERY strong (over 1.2+) in the first 5 minutes and then rapidly drops until it's 0.4 at around midnight. The only reason the average is high is because it starts out strong thanks to airing right after the biggest drama in years.
We'll see how it fares when In the Name finishes in a few days.

oh thanks for sharing that, had not known that level of detail. I'm very curious now to see how the game changes next week..

I tried Fight of Destiny. Didn't work for me. The hero isn't very compelling and I find Luhan too pretty. Gulnezer isn't doing well also. The drama has an interesting set up and premise but the execution was flawed..
Sunny
Thanks for your great ratings post.
In the Name of the People numbers are incredible. I wonder what it's peak rating will be?
Fighter of the Destiny numbers are good. It didn't interest me at all from the trailers but Luhan has a huge fanbase and I think it's based on a popular story so I guess it's not a surprise it's doing well. I've seen a lot of criticism about the way Hunan airs its dramas but I guess they must be doing something right this month lol!
I thought the first season of Glory of Tang Dynasty's performed poorly because it was airing against 3L10W but it seems the second season didn't fare much better. Even so it seems to have done wonders for Ren Jialun's career judging by the star rankings.
I like the new layout of the ratings. Question: since it's a monthly post how do you decide which week's ratings to post? Is it just the most recent week's ratings?
Anne J
I'm definitely going to check In the Name's final ratings coz I'm super curious too. To answer your question, yes, it is just the most recent week's ratings. It's doesn't make the most sense systematically so I'm considering turning it into a weekly post but not sure:) I am a fan of dramabeans tho and I know they do a weekly post for the kdramas.
Sunny
Thanks for the reponse 🙂 A weekly ratings post like DramaBeans would be great idea but I think it will be a might be a lot of extra work.
I've also been meaning to say you might want to watermark or maybe put a "Drama Panda" somewhere on your ratings table to show the source as I've seen the tables posted occasionally elsewhere without giving the site due credit. I don't think that's fair as you put a good lot of effort into collating this info and translating to English for the site.
Anne J
yes.. the extra works is exactly what's keeping me from doing it haha though I know that it really makes more sense to do it weekly than monthly. hmm.. let me toss a coin and decide:)
And thank you for your suggestion, will try to incorporate that eventually but yikes, crazy that u'd see it popping up elsewhere.
