Hot on the heels of A Different Kind of Pretty Man 2 comes another youth-oriented offering in Lightning 进击吧闪电, a 30-episode Chinese drama that follows a rising star in the fencing world who changes his life goals after crossing paths with a mischievous and arrogant young lady who hails from a line of fencing champions.
The two end up enrolling in the same school, overcoming obstacles and some family drama along the way in a quest to reach their dreams of participating in the international stage. Of course, what’s an idol drama without some romance as Jiang Jin Fu (Legend of Qin), Feng Wen Juan, Chen Ya An and George Hu headline as the two couple pairings.
Is it bad that I’m not at all excited for this one? Though I have to admit, sports-themed dramas about a little guy fighting against all odds are always an inspiring watch, but instead, I am over the moon that Fighter of the Destiny starring Luhan is tentatively set to premiere right after this.
