If you weren’t stoked about A Step into the Past 寻秦记 getting a remake, then this might just change your mind because Louis Koo has just confirmed to take the lead in a movie version, one that may bring back the original cast starring Jessica Hsuan, Raymond Lam, etc.
In spite of his success as an actor, one of Louis Koo’s most endearing roles would still have to be Xiang Shao Long, who was the time traveling protagonist of the 2001 TVB series A Step into the Past.

He has apparently been toying with the idea of turning the hit drama into a movie without success but things are definitely back on track with rumors that filming may begin this year in Inner Mongolia. It’s a bit early to talk about the cast when the script has yet to be completed but the best news I can leave you with is that the movie is greenlit and happening!

Now that I’m stalking weibo, Louis Koo seems to have dropped a few hints since 2011 where he said, “Yesterday I was talking about time travel and the like as a genre, quite a few fans brought up A Step into the Past. Everyone still misses my portrayal of Xiang Shao Long. This is a 40-episode TV series based on a novel by Huang Yi produced in celebration of TVB’s 34th anniversary. When I think about it, it’s already a year 2000 production. Time flies. Thankful to the fans for not forgetting Xiang Shao Long.”
Update March 12, 2017: The first concept posters were released by Huace Film & TV.
