Their tandem is awfully reminiscent of Moonlight in the Clouds which also stars two very youthful leads but the similarities end there because in place of a light fluffy romance is an intense political conspiracy.
Contrary from traditional sageuks is an additional twist to the story with the use of a stand-in, a concept that was also the central theme for the 2012 movie Masquerade. Yoo Seung Ho plays Crown Prince Sado, a prince who takes on a powerful organization that has monopolized the use of water in Joseon. Kim So Hyun plays his lover and enemy who vows to avenge the death of her father.
It’s an era that I have seen adapted into film many times before so we know that things are bound to get difficult for the warm blooded prince. While I can’t say that I’m that excited for another retelling on Crown Prince Sado, I am quite stoked to see Kim So Hyun in ancient garb especially since the her brief appearances in Goblin blew me away.
