The Lunar New Year is a busy time for the Chinese box office with always a handful of movies premiering on the same day. Duckweed, Kung Fu Yoga and Journey to the West 2 make my top picks though the latter’s one of a kind humor piques my interest the most.
Comedy can either become a big hit or a disappointing miss but it’s hard not to harbor high hopes when it comes to a movie that brings together Stephen Chow and Tsui Hark, aka the king of comedy and the king of wuxia.
But really, young hotties Kris Wu and Lin Gengxin are an added bonus in terms of eye candy though Stephen Chow films are hardly ever about looks and often go to great lengths to uglify the leads. Heh.. maybe not in this instance because everyone looks good to me. Catch the premiere on January 28, 2017.
