On the eve of Dec. 29, the cast and crew of the Legend of the Cat Demon 妖猫传 held a closing party attended by Chen Kai Ge, Huang Xuan, Sometani Shota, Kitty Zhang Yuqi, Qin Hao, Liu Hao Ran, Oho Ou, Zhang Lu Yi, etc. and announced the movie’s premiere date on December 22, 2017.
Director Chen Kai Ge shares that he started the project twelve years since the 2005 movie The Promise after having gained much insight on the wonders of the world. He adds that the 150 days of filming were grueling and that his team essentially functioned like an army ready for battle. Rather than dwell on how hard it was, he thinks that viewers can understand what he means once they see the film.

Alcohol was a big part of the night as Chen Kai Ge gifted the cast with different kinds of drinks. He gave sake to Huang Xuan (Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy) and Japanese actor Sometani Shota who play the unlikely crime-solving duo of a poet and a monk. Both expressed feeling sad at having to say goodbye as partners.

He gave yellow wine to Kitty Zhang Yuqi and Qin Hao who play a loving couple disrupted by the appearance of cat demon who ends up possessing Kitty Zhang’s character. Even though I haven’t seen any of Kitty Zhang’s works, she is quite known for her beauty so to see her wearing something that seems to be a poster child for what not to wear is beyond weird, even Qin Hao’s attire fares better in comparison.
He gave plum wine to young actors Liu Hao Ran (Nirvana in Fire 2) and Oho Ou who joke about addressing each other sisters whenever they were on set.

Last but not the least, he gave grape wine to Zhang Lu Yi (Sparrow) and Taiwanese-French actress Sandrine Pinna who star as the Tang Dynasty King and the famous concubine Yang Gui Fei, both attempting the historical genre for the first time.
