Sword of Legends 2 古剑奇谭二:永夜初晗凝碧天 is the highly-anticipated sequel to Sword of Legends. It tells a story based on a role-playing game about a group of young heroes and their journey towards immortal cultivation. The plot sounds like every other fantasy adventure but the show’s namesake ought to be more than enough to fuel the hype.
I’m a huge fan of its predecessor and like many others, was introduced to Li Yifeng because of it. Bailu Tusu as the hero tormented by his own demons is a lot different from our new character Le Wuyi who grew up cherished and loved by his parents. The lack of drama doesn’t sound as intriguing, but I still harbor hopes that the sequel will not disappoint.
The first posters released had no name or a face in what seems to be a new gimmick to generate buzz. On November 14, 2016, the cast and crew held a prayer ceremony to begin filming for the drama.
Those in attendance included Fu Xin Bo (Happiness Chocolate), Ying Er (My Ruby My Love), Aarif Lee (The Thousand Faces of Dunjia), Jiang Wen (Kung Fu Yoga), Shao Bing (Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017) and Ken Chang (Tang Dynasty Tour). Taiwanese actor Dylan Kuo (Heroes of the North) appears as a guest star. On another note, I think it’s sweet that Fu Xin Bo and Ying Er are now married with a kid.
