A Chinese Odyssey: Love of Eternity 大话西游之爱你一万年 releases its first look of Huang Zi Tao as the Monkey King. It apparently takes four hours just to complete the full hair and makeup and and I have to say that it seems worth the effort as the result is the most legit-looking Monkey King I have ever seen. I can barely recognize Z Tao from the pictures but it’s him alright.
The c-drama has its fair share of naysayers for trying to remake a classic using a bunch of newcomers. I agree to some extent but I may also be one of the few who find that Z Tao’s unmistakable air of confidence actually fits the role. Not to mention his bubbly personality that can never sit still and an iron rod for a weapon? That’s practically a signature of his since his EXO days.
