Oh My General 将军在上 is a historical comedy based on a novel by Ju Hua San Li 橘花散里 that tells a mismatched romance between a lady general and a royal highness. Sandra Ma Si Chun (Love Me If You Dare) and Peter Sheng Yi Lun (Pretty Li Hui Zhen) take the lead as the clashing couple who will eventually fall for each other, that is, after much hilarity has ensued.

During the Song Dynasty, a woman disguises herself as a man and becomes a formidable general, unrivaled in military prowess and fearless in battle. She’s been given an important post since the age of sixteen and even the people closest to her believe that she is a man (which ought to make for a couple confused hearts). After winning a glorious battle, the King has planned to bestow her the title of the great general, but she takes the opportunity to reveal that she’s a woman. After outing herself, she is forced to marry into the imperial family yet the man she is betrothed to is everything that she is not – spoiled-rotted, entitled and definitely not hero material.

Although the gender bender in this case is more figurative than a literal soul swapping, the non-conventional premise seems to scream another Go Princess Go. Aside from the obvious recasting of Sheng Yi Lun, Lu Hao Ji Ji who directed the former also brings along the same sense of flair as the art director.
